How do I use my own domain?
All Platinum and Diamond accounts support custom domain mapping. This lets you change your store URL from the default example.bigcartel.com to just about anything.
If you’ve already setup your domain, but it’s still not working, troubleshoot it to see what the problem is.
Customize your instructions
Use the form below to tell us about your domain settings, and we will customize some instructions just for you.
In the Total DNS Control field, click Total DNS Control and MX Records.
Click Add New CNAME Record.
Enter the following in the provided form: Enter an Alias Name: Points to Host Name:
Click OK.
Step 2: Add a CNAME with Dreamhost
Go to Dreamhost’s website.
Log in to the control panel.
Click Domains > Manage Domains in the sidebar.
Under your domain, click DNS.
Enter the following in the provided form: Name: Type: CNAME Value: Comment: My Big Cartel store
Click Add Record Now!
Step 2: Add a CNAME with easyDNS
Go to easyDNS’s website.
Log in to the members area.
Next to your domain, click DNS.
Under Add a C name (alias), enter: C name (alias): Points to A record (host):
Click next and next again on the confirmation page.
Step 2: Add a CNAME with Network Solutions
Go to Network Solutions’ website.
Log in to the control panel.
Click Domains > Manage Domains.
Click Edit DNS next to your domain.
Click Advanced DNS Manager > Manage DNS Records.
Return to Advanced DNS Manager and click Host Aliases > add/edit.
Enter the following in the provided form: Alias: Other Host:
Click Continue.
Step 2: Add a CNAME with 123-reg
Go to 123-reg’s website.
Log in to the control panel.
Under Manage Domains, select your domain and click Modify domain.
Click Manage DNS.
Enter the following in the provided form: Name: Type: CNAME Content:
Click Update DNS.
Step 2: Add a CNAME with your DNS host
Create a CNAME record from to . Depending on the DNS host you use, you may be able to add this CNAME record yourself, or you may need your host to add it for you. If you aren’t sure, get in touch with .
Step 3: Redirect to www.
This is an optional step to allow your customers to use both and www. to access your store. Contact for help setting this up.
