Can I load my store in a frame?
Updated on June 27th, 2008
We don’t have a problem with it, however we recommend not loading your store in a frame because of problems in some browsers.
You may not have realized you were using a frame, but some domain registrars (ex: GoDaddy) will automatically use a frame for “domain aliasing” or “domain masking”. Be sure this is disabled for your store’s domain.
Basically what happens is that the user’s session (what holds the items they’ve added into their cart) doesn’t work, and the store will always show “You don’t have any items in your cart.”
The solution is to do one of the following:
- Link directly to your store’s Big Cartel URL. (ie: http://example.bigcartel.com)
- Do a JavaScript redirect to your store. Most domain registrars call this “domain forwarding”, and can set it up for you.
- Or the best option, use our custom domain feature to get a domain like shop.mysite.com.
